The long awaited improvements to the lay-by beside the Standing Stones in Stenness are now finished, and what a great job they have done!
The lay-by had decayed into such an embarrassing state with potholes making driving tricky with large puddles everywhere and giving visitors a very bad impression of how our monuments were looked after. OAS felt compelled to write to the OIC (council) about this some years ago, and we are delighted to see the great job that the local builders, Andrew Sinclair have done.
The wall is also a great addition to help protect visitors from the traffic as they walk across to road to photograph the seals on the other side . We are sure that when the visitors and coaches return this new amenity will be much appreciated.
Well done all those involved!
