As a registered charity, one of the main functions of OAS is to raise funds to support and promote archaeology here in Orkney. And to do that – well, we need your help !
As you can imagine, it is not so easy in the current climate with our main fund-raising options closed to us, so we have done all we can to make it simple and secure for you to assist us with a donation – by credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or even by sending us a good old-fashioned cheque!
Your generosity can help through either:
The OAS General Fund.
Many of you may already know that this is used to fund grants supporting research projects and excavations in Orkney, as well as various educational projects and, more recently to fund special publications about Orkney Archaeology. We offer talks (online at the moment of course) and – when we are permitted to do so – archaeologist-led walks and these are available not only to OAS members but also to the general public.
Ness of Brodgar
The Ness of Brodgar – funds for this are collected directly by the Ness Trust and you can click here to go to their page if you wish to help them with their work.
And of course, if you are not already a member of OAS … why not consider joining us and supporting us that way as well ? By becoming a member you get the forthcoming Annual Review free of charge …the 2021 issue is at the printers now so it won’t be long before we send it out. Anna Gudge, the membership secretary sends out emails with additional bits of information, for example giving advance notification of talks by email to members, and you can be sure that as a member you are supporting the really important, interesting and exciting archaeological developments and research in Orkney. Neolithic – Viking – Pictish – WWII – Graffiti in the Cathedral … there is just so much to discover and enjoy. Just click here to go to our membership page !
