Sad News – Caroline Wickham-Jones

by Webmaster January 14, 2022 No Comments

OAS is very sad to hear the news earlier today that archaeologist Caroline Wickham-Jones died last night . Caroline was a great advocate for Orkney and for archaeology.

She was an absolute believer in community archaeology and a force of nature, as well as one of the kindest and most supportive colleague and friend that you could ever hope to meet. Here’s the talk she did for our AGM in 2020. In true Caroline style she responded enthusiastically when we asked her if she’d do us a talk.

We wanted something that our members (not all of whom are in Orkney, some of whom have never been) would enjoy. A reminder of happier times for us during those difficult dark months of lockdown and travel restrictions. We send all our love to her family and friends.

She’ll be hugely missed.
