22 The Annual David Drever Memorial Lecture

September 10 @ 19:00 - 20:30

The Annual David Drever Memorial Lecture

by Professor Colin Richards.  V. Gordon Childe, Skara Brae and Neolithic Orkney: research and redemption.  King Street Halls, Kirkwall

David was the Chair of Orkney Archaeology Society before his sudden and untimely death in August 2025.  To celebrate his significant contribution to Orkney across a number of fields, the Society has inaugurated an Annual Lecture as part of the Festival.

We are delighted to have Professor Colin Richards to launch this series.  Not only an OAS Board Member, Colin is also Professor of Prehistoric Archaeology here at the Archaeology Institute and a very well published author in his own right as well as in collaboration with colleagues.

This talk takes place in King Street Halls, Kirkwall and is free to attend, there will be a raffle to raise funds towards the festival costs and to support Orkney Archaeology Society. This hall is accessible, the talk will be taking place in the hall on the ground floor.
